McKinley Marketing Partners’s higher education client in Reston is seeking a Senior Director, New Product Development. The Senior Director will provide hands-on leadership and be held accountable for managing the overall new product development function and leading the development and implementation of the client’s innovation pipeline.

Responsibilities:


•Plan, direct, manage and oversee all activities and operations of the product development team


• Engage with the industry ecosystem to develop relationships and opportunities


• Lead the team in market research relevant to new product ideas & concepts


• Perform needs and competitive analysis and conduct pilot/concept or other market tests to inform design and prototype of solutions


• Optimize and leverage a solid understanding of the software development process including the ability to sketch out concepts for evaluation, create and deploy low resolution prototypes for testing/feedback, create and document detailed requirements and user stories


• Create operational and financial models – including sensitivity analysis for business case


• Drive initial market development and incubation of new products including road mapping potential paths to scale


• Transition product to existing market facing teams upon conclusion of successful pilot

Requirements:


• 7 years progressive experience in product development with five years of experience developing or managing a digital product


• MBA or Graduate Degree or Undergraduate Degree in relevant field plus 3 additional years of work of related experience


• 5 years of managerial experience, with responsibility for budget, people and process development


• Ability to propose and implement strategy to influence and support the senior leadership team


• Experience using a variety of approaches to surface problems/insights (conducting focus groups, voice of the customer analysis, customer experience mapping, quantitative analysis, and survey research)


• Technical proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, JIRA, Trello, Adobe CS and other relevant software applications


• Ability to structure, organize, analyze, and present/communicate insights and “stories” effectively


• Experience with business case analysis for partnerships or small acquisitions (i.e. valuation, due diligence) as well as negotiating and contracting with partners and vendors


• Experience analyzing and visualizing data using Stata, SPSS, R GEPHI or Python preferred
