McKinley Marketing Partners’ financial services client is seeking a Senior Benefits Analyst for a project (3-6 months, possibly longer) opportunity in Owings Mills, MD. The Senior Benefits Analyst will conduct analysis to enable strategic business decision making across the Benefits organization.  The role will be responsible for developing, and implementing analytics and research used to administer current and future benefit programs to include health, life, disability, qualified, non-qualified, and profit-sharing plan initiatives across the firm to assure alignment with the company’s total rewards strategy, local practices, regulatory requirements, and financial costs/risks.

Research and Data Analysis

  • Gather market data and provide analysis and research to support benefits decisions and program recommendations to ensure competitiveness in accordance with the firm’s global, regional and local strategy
  • Assess employee benefit practices by benchmarking best practices, researching industry and employment trends; tracking legislation. Analyze survey data and manage the dissemination of relevant information to the leadership team, make recommendations based on findings and best practices
  • Monitor, track, and analyze benefit trends and perform ad-hoc analysis to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and performance. Escalate issues and risks to leadership when appropriate; leverage data findings to drive solutions and decisions
  • Interpret data and findings and communicate those of significance to Benefits and Total Rewards leadership; identify opportunities for improvements to current processes and programs.
  • Partner internally within Total Rewards COE, other HR COEs, and Shared Services to make recommendations on analytic approaches to problem-solving. Consult externally with vendors and other legal/ regional experts as needed
  • Provide guidance and support for broader HR initiatives, including talent, compensation and benefits and workforce analysis
  • Identify new sources of data to leverage and improve data integrity on existing sources

Reporting and Compliance

  • Research, compile, analyze and summarize data for routine and/or special projects or reports
  • In partnership with Finance and external consulting resources, review financial metrics to evaluate the efficiency of plans against budget continuously 
  • Report, monitor, and respond to compliance-related needs such as country, regional and local compliance related filings and tasks
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting and analyses; develop standards and schedule for reporting including monthly; quarterly and annual requirements
  • Utilize reporting tools/resources to gain operational insight to identify opportunities and concerns and propose resolutions
  • Validate all data whether internal or external to assure the accuracy of reporting and analysis

Project Support

  • Support projects such as the implementation of new benefits plans and programs, as requested by the manager
  • Assist in the development of presentations for senior leadership including developing exhibits and data collection
  • Assist with the development of business requirements for new benefits implementations or modifications, system enhancements and testing, and other ad hoc requests
  • Partner internally within Total Rewards COE, other HR COEs, and Shared Services.  Consult externally with vendors and other legal/ regional experts as needed
  • Data testing of all changes to existing or new data requests and file updates
  • Support other ad-hoc requests as directed by the management team

Vendor Management

  • Support the RFP process, including working with vendors, external consultants, or internal procurement, and legal resources on assigned tasks to include vendor privacy reviews, security surveys, privacy impact analysis and other onboarding requirements
  • Support vendor lifecycle by collecting and tracking data on all third-party vendors and service providers to ensure programs are managed by high quality, technically savvy, and financially sound organizations, including monitoring contract status, security surveys and other required documents 
  • Audit associate access to vendor systems and data; manage any changes with vendor


  • Enter all engagements in Coupa
  • Generate invoices for health care and welfare benefits; monitor and submit accruals on a monthly basis
  • Manage master invoice coding spreadsheet in partnership with team
  • Maintain team planning site (Microsoft Planner) and monitor project status and resources; report out to management as requested
  • Complete employee benefit program surveys and data benchmarking

Qualifications & Experience

  • College degree and two years of related work experience, or Associate degree and four years related work experience, or High School diploma/equivalent and six years related work experience
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Commitment to excellence in service and client relationship management
  • Positive and collaborative contributor who supports a team atmosphere
  • Ability to build strong relationships with numerous internal and external parties and present positions to management
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field and three (3) years progressive experience in Benefits Administration
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements
  • Advanced MS Office Skills
