McKinley Marketing Partners’ non-profit client located in Washington, DC, is seeking an editor for a project opportunity.  In this role, you will be responsible for creating content -- writing, producing and editing -- for digital, print and other platforms to support the production of an outstanding and authoritative website, print publications, apps, videos and more.

Position Overview

  • Plans, reports, writes and produces news and feature content on a wide range of subjects of interest to the organization’s demographic for online platforms, typical under tight deadlines, focused on state-specific content for our 53 state and territory websites
  • Collaborates with teams across the organization, including state offices, government affairs, research, digital strategy and membership, communications and others, ensuring content is coordinated and aligned with the organization’s priorities and messaging
  • Collaborates with other content teams across the organization, including Video, Social, and Print Publications, and Producers, to make high-impact content
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of a wide variety of subjects important to the organization’s demographic and applies knowledge to contribute appropriate, effective, and meaningful content
  • Keeps knowledgeable of changing best practices for digital content, including competitive web content producers and the way they develop content
  • Occasionally assigns and edits stories, with a focus on news and news you can use, working with internal and freelance writers
  • Collaborates to creatively and enthusiastically brainstorm unique ideas to online inventory
  • Consistently offer new, creative well-thought-out ideas for content and content development
  • Develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of the organization and its priorities, social mission and goals
  • Performs other editorial duties as needed
  • Demonstrates organization’s mission, purpose and value in all interactions

Qualifications & Experience

  • 7-10 years of writing and editing experience for traditional and digital mediums
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work under tight deadlines
