McKinley’s large healthcare client has a need for a copywriter to create content for a variety of marketing and communications for the client’s needs including writing, editing, and proofing communications. This copywriter is proficient in multiple writing styles and champions brand consistency in voice, and tone across customer touchpoints and experiences. The copywriter will understand ADA and 508 accessibility standards, SEO/SEM, and experience with project management software or tools such as Workfront, Jira, etc. 

This position will require regular on-site attendance (2-3 days a week) once in-office operations resume. Candidates must be willing to commute to Owings Mills.


  • Responsible for concepting, writing, editing, and proofing a variety of marketing communications for print, web, social, digital, video, and other formats
  • Develops clear, concise, and tailored copy for individual consumer segments, various business segments, and products amplifying brand voice and tone and reinforcing the brand message consistently across communications channels
  • Works as a team with web/print designers, strategists, project managers, and others to develop marketing campaigns and communications
  • Collaborates with Marketing team members in support of corporate initiatives, attending project meetings, providing strategic insight, presenting an overview of initiatives to other associates
  • Assists in the creation and execution of integrated, strategic, creative communication plans for company-wide and cross-functional initiatives, researching topics and information to develop content, evaluating sources, studying documents, interviewing subject matter experts, analyzing, and verifying data and facts, and compiling and deriving insights
  • Provides resolution to an assortment of problems that are typically well defined, but some clarification or judgment is required to determine action, as additional information about the problem/task is discovered


  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Journalism, or related field OR an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience
  • 3 years of copywriting experience with a portfolio or work examples that demonstrate proficiency in creating compelling marketing content for a wide variety of media and audiences
  • Experience writing for healthcare and/or government-regulated products, services, and industries (preferred but not required)
  • Experience with, or working knowledge of, the Adobe Suite of tools (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator Dreamweaver, After Effects, Premiere, etc.) and other related applications
  • Experience working in a marketing in-house creative team, or advertising agency
  • Ability to write with varying tones and to translate technical and industry jargon into copy that is understandable and engaging
  • Understanding of ADA and 508 accessibility standards with the ability to create content that meets WC3 requirements
  • Understanding of SEO/SEM with the ability to write for both people and search engines
  • Experience with project management software or tools (Workfront, Jira, etc.)
