Specifically, our clients is looking for Public Affairs Specialist who will create national and international public awareness of the client's exhibitions, collections activities, publications, educational programs and events. The Public Affairs Specialist also will secure local, national, and international media coverage of special events, exhibitions, educational programs, corporate sponsorship, gifts, major acquisitions, and other newsworthy events.


  • Respond to media inquiries and arrange interviews, as well as report on progress of media management systems
  • Coordinate publicity for appearances by dignitaries, artists, scholars, and entertainers
  • Write and edit press materials including news releases, media advisories, feature stories, photo captions, story pitches, and copy for web and social media platforms
  • Write internal memorandums on media events, interviews, filming or documentary schedules, and other public affairs activities
  • Prepare media briefing packets for the organization's leadership and other staff
  • Compile data for, as well as write and edit monthly and quarterly reports on media impressions, marketing milestones, social media engagement, and other public affairs activities
  • Ensures consistency of all communications materials with the organization's brand and styles guidelines
  • Prepare and manage service agreements with external vendors and consultants
  • Facilitate private tours for media and VIP guests of behind-the-scenes areas


  • Degree from four-year accredited college or university
  • Knowledge of public relations concepts, principles, and practices related to media operations in a nonprofit, agency or corporate setting
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, Meltwater News, Cision and PR Newswire
  • Able to develop write, edit, research and proofread communications plans, media releases and advisories, publicity  materials, marketing and promotional copy and reports
  • Stellar time and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to complete multi-phased projects with precision and flexibility
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as projects or assignments dictate
