Our global client is looking for a Director of Internal Communications to join their team in either D.C. or New York. The Director is responsible for alignment of internal employee engagement with the organization's vision, culture, and strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategies to shape approach to people engagement and the supporting internal communications around strategy, culture, and vision, working with the Global Head of Communications, the Global Head of Culture and Change, and other members of the firm's leadership
  • Work with the other members of the internal communications team in specifying, delivering, monitoring, measuring, and adjusting the effectiveness of internal communications, and taking action as necessary
  • Working with senior members of the management team on communications in association with other communications team members and the Office of the Chief Executive to ensure clarity of message and coordination of timing around major initiatives
  • Act as a role model to and directly manage the other members of the global internal communications team
  • Develop appropriate budgets for internal communications support at a global level
  • Finalize and implement people engagement and internal communications strategies and messages, which align partners and people behind vision, culture, and strategy
  • Develop an appropriately structured framework, and be an advisory ‘clearing house’, for communications to partners
  • Support senior leadership and team members on the drafting and editing of communications materials
  • Manage internal engagement and pulse surveys, analyze and act on results and develop appropriate communications
  • Analyze the success of communications programs and take action to tweak or reinvent them to improve engagement

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or other applicable areas of study
  • 10+ years of experience in internal communications
  • Experience at a management consulting firm is preferred  
  • Practical and experienced understanding at a senior level of the issues, strategies and tactics involved in effective people engagement and internal communications
  • Experience in managing internal communications and people engagement in a complex international environment
  • Familiarity with partnership or very heavy people-focused businesses
  • Understanding and practical experience of the use of social media to support employee engagement programs
  • Content development and editing skills that are adaptable to a variety of print and electronic applications
